I arrived at the River of Life Farm at about noon. I will have to admit that it took me a little longer driving from Fort Leonard Wood than what I had anticipated. A detour plus my uncertainty as to my exact location seemed to double team me (oh yeah...I forgot the map).
When I arrived Ann was more than polite & pointed out my way to the cabin. I was more than pleased, beautiful surroundings &
great
accommodations. I have paid much more for a supposed three star hotels that offered much less. Thanx Myron!
I rigged up & began fishing. I worked the water around The River of Life Farm hard all afternoon. But to no avail, I was skunked. I was having a hard time adjusting to a big (well big to me anyway) river after spending the last year fishing much smaller spring creeks.
After a long & frustrating (although admittedly peaceful) afternoon, I called it quits. As I was breaking the rod down, Myron pulled up.
Thanx for the tips on how to fish the rapids & pools.
I fixed dinner & hit the rack.
Next day proved to be much better. A nice 19 inch brownie in the AM followed by numerous feisty bows ranging from 5-16 inches in the afternoon. (by the way I saw several brownies that looked like small muskies & lost a nice rainbow in the cave riffle)
Hints: If you're gonna fish for the brownies.....absolute stealth in the tailouts of pools. For the bows....get the nymph deep in the riffles.
Myron...thanx for the hospitality & the great opportunity to relax & fish a wonderful river.
