We had a great time and will be back.
We saw some huge rainbows from the cabin down to the first bridge. |
The bigger of the two fish was caught in the shoal below The Falls on river left.
I was using a #8 weighted olive leech (that I'd tied, so it has no name) on 6x tippet.. I had caught one just below the falls on that fly as well.
The trout in the photo is easily the biggest trout I've landed on a fly rod. It made several drag-screaming runs and magnificent jumps before it gave out. |

The smaller of the two (in canoe) was caught not far below the Tree House; cabin as we floated.
I was in the back of the canoe and using spinning gear, since steering a canoe and fly fishing at the same time is near impossible to do.
I caught several nice rainbows of that size down to Blair Bridge on a white rooster tail., even though there were several other canoes. |

Like I mentioned, we saw several huge rainbows running scared from canoes.
I have to believe that if one fished during the week or during low canoe traffic times that the fish would be much easier to entice into a strike.
My friend in the front of the canoe landed a nice rainbow on a zug-bug I think. Our wives both caught goggle eye on spinning gear as well.

Again, we really enjoyed our stay and plan to return in the fall.
