FLOATING AVAILABLE YEAR-ROUND!
There is always plenty of water as the
North Fork River is spring feed
by the 8th largest spring system in the
state of Missouri
The North Fork of the White River,
located in the southern Missouri Ozarks,
offers many excellent canoeing,
kayaking, and rafting
float opportunities. The River of
Life Farm Outfitters is located at the
heart of the North Fork River, known as
the "Falls" (a rock ledge 2-3 feet high
- The
Falls borders our property). It is
the finest in Missouri canoeing,
kayaking, and rafting. We are the place
for quality canoe, raft, or kayak
rentals. |

The North Fork River has its upper
reaches in the Mark Twain National
Forest, and has a relatively constant
flow from the many springs that feed it.
Being spring fed the North Fork is
crystal clear, making for some excellent
observations of the aquatic life living
in the river.
In normal water the river rates class I
in most places, and class II in others,
and makes a pleasant
float for all family members and is
considered a prime river for Missouri
canoeing or Missouri rafting. |

The
North Fork (of the White)
combines a relatively
constant flow of clearwater
from large springs with some
of the best whitewater in
the Missouri Ozarks.
Since its upper reaches are
in Mark Twain National
Forest, it retains some
wilderness character and has
good watershed protection.
The section from State Hwy.
14 to Hwy. H is
near-wilderness and includes
some fine stands of
short-leaf pine as well as
several very large springs.
Old mills and a number of
National Forest recreation
areas enhance the
attractiveness of this area
for vacationers.
Indeed, this river has
high-quality recreation
value equal to any in the
Ozarks. The river is almost
always floatable from Dora
down to Norfork Reservoir.
Although the gradient of the
lower sections is not
spectacular, the volume is
good and this produces some
fairly sporty rifts.
Difficulty: I and II. A few
places might rate a low III
in high water.
Gradients: general ---7.5;
Hwy. HH to Round Valley
Ford--10.4; to Twin
Bridges---8; Hammond
Camp--6.7; to Hwy. H--6.4;
to Tecumseh take-out--5.6.

The North Fork section from Twin Bridges
to Patrick Bridge is near wilderness and
features some fine stands of short-leaf
pine, and many numerous springs. The
springs range from several of the
largest in the state, the North Fork
Spring and the Double Spring (Rainbow
Springs), to the very small such as the
River of Life Spring.
Some springs flow from caves, such as
the famous "Bat Cave" on the North Fork
which is home to a large colony of
migrating bats. |

While there was once
several
grist mills standing along the North
Fork River grinding grain and doing
similar chores, one picturesque old mill
still resides. Dawt Mill, a shadow of
its former glory, still stands beside
the North Fork.
Numerous species of
flora and fauna may be seen, as you
quietly glide the river in your canoe.
Turtle families constantly present
themselves for your pleasure, as they
try to catch some sun on a rock or limb.
Take advantage of
Mother Nature's creation and plan a
trip on the North Fork River, a true
jewel of the Ozarks. The finest in
Missouri canoeing and Missouri rafting. |

Here's What You Won't Get
A bad time!
These poor
lads evidently rented an
inferior canoe in disrepair from
someone other then the ROLF.
They weren't even instructed on
which side goes up ;) |
