Myron,

After I left you, I walked down to the next long riffle/run (Cave Riffle), below your property and fished my way back up. There's a spot where a falling spring pours into the river on the left (looking downstream). There's a very audible sound of running water - know where that is? I did pretty well there, and had 14 or 15 strikes in an hour's time. I was fishing a soft hackle on a downstream swing, and as typically happens with that method, I missed more than half of the strikes (bad angle for hooking). One big, thick brown cleared the water on the strike, but I failed to get him hooked. Later I fished the area immediately below The Falls and caught three fish on a dry fly and had one Long Distance Release (LDR) on a 16-18 inch rainbow. He took the fly, bolted downstream, and released himself on the first jump! It was fantastic! I kept thinking about that fish during the long drive home.
