My friend, Jim, and I showed up late on Thurs. Aug.5th. We were delighted with the accommodations in the new Eagle's Nest. All the amenities of home and right on the river. We arrived too late to fish but were up in the morning and on the river with Myron as our guide.

Mark and Jim.

Aug. 6th, Fri. we put in at Kelly’s Ford and rowed back up stream to Rainbow Springs where we caught several nice rainbows and one brownie using primarily bead head prince nymphs around size 10 and 12.

The water in the stream was lower and clearer than the previous times I had been there, making casting a little further and an important part of our success. We worked our way downstream and caught at least one or two healthy fish, all in the 12" to 16" range, at each riffle or chute.

When we reached the ROLF around 2PM, we put into shore for a meal and a nap. Two hours later we started in below The Falls, fishing was a little tougher in the afternoon and we had a little rain and thunder to deal with, but were able to catch another 6 or 7 fish before night fall. Myron's daughter picked us up and Blair Bridge at dark.

A nice Brown caught by Mark.

Great time and we had another day to go. Aug. 9, Sat. Jim and I started at The Falls with a canoe that we rented from Myron. Our plan was to fish the likely spots and move quickly downstream to Blair Bridge by 2PM to avoid the canoe traffic that occurs on the weekends. The plan worked well. The weather was warm, but since I was wet wading, the water was cool, and very comfortable. Fishing wasn't easy but we were able to catch several nice fish.

Jim caught up with me late in the float and landed three nice rainbows just above the islands near Blair Bridge. After Myron picked us up it was back to the cabin and a cold drink, a late lunch, and a long nap. That evening we waded up stream to Rainbow Alley and fished the last couple hours before dark. A very nice ending to a beautiful day! Was very worried about the canoe traffic on the weekend, but with a little planning we were alone with the exception of one canoe the entire time on the water. August can be tougher to land the big ones, but with a little planning some quality fishing is available.
